Here are some fun shots taken from the 2012 season!
April, 2011 and the Last Ski Weekend... Good Times!
The last ski weekend in VT was a fitting ending to a great season with sunny blue skies
and fabulous conditions. Rand, Brian, Aidan and Tom (at the top of Stratton) stop for a photo
prior to heading over to ski some diamond and double diamond runs on the last day of the season.
Atomic Ski Shots and Good Times in Mid-March
March - The first weekend in March was a mixed bag with great spring skiing on Sat. and a monsoon on Sunday. The ski house was full with friends and kids, and a fabulous time was had by all. Kudos to Liz for her fabulous dinner that she cooked!
February - The last weekend in Feb. included some great skiing due to mother nature's cooperation in providing almost 20" of fresh snow. An epic powder day was enjoyed by Rand and Brian at Magic where few skiers and no liftlines are the norm. Tom and Aidan, the Dempseys and Emmanuel were up and a good time was had by all!
Fresh Snow and Good Times at Magic
The Plochs and Beckers hosted a fun party for kids and adults that included great food and cake.
At left is a video of Brian enjoying the fresh powder at Magic Mt. - a great place to beat the crowds at other mountains on powder days.
Fresh Snow and the Igloo
January - Just some fun pics from this month...
December 30th - After an energetic hike to the Lookout bench, Tom and Aidan decided to sled in the back yard.
With Rochelle looking on and Rand takings pics and shooting video, their death defying ride was a big success!
December 28th - Brian and Aidan built an igloo on a day that was a bit too windy to ski.
December 26th Storm dumps 20+" for the Christmas/New Years holiday!
December, 2010. Some nice early season skiing was had as the slopes were relatively empty during the period prior to Christmas. Unfortunately, Frenchy broke his car on a rock literally 100 ft. from the house. Brian investigated and found the guilty rock. See pics below.
March, 2010. Spring skiing was on tap on a gorgeous late March day at Bromley that included a crowd favorite - pond skimming!!
It was a fitting end to a great season with lots of snow and great times shared with good friends.
February, 2010. By Rand. A great last weekend of Feb. featured great snow, a late night hike, and even a power outage when a tree fell on the power lines. A highlight was when Dave and Frenchy put on a deck jumping exhibition. Scroll over each pic for captions.
January, 2010. By Rand. The Christmas/New Years week was a great time as always up at the Eagle's Nest. It included snow tubing, skiing, lots of great food and good friends. Below are pics. Scroll over each pic for captions.
Brian skis Stratton on January 2nd and loves it!
March, 2009. By Tom. A visit to Jay Peak. It was freezing cold and the slopes would have been easier to go down if we had ice skates on. But it was a very cool place to ski and we must go back under better conditions. Lifts were updated and they have a 60 person tram that takes you to the very top where you can see 100 miles in every direction.
The next day we went to Sugarbush where the ice was even thicker. John Montalbino took a fall on a run called paradise that was in horrible shape. Most of us just tried to slide down without trying to be fancy but John was actually trying to run the bumps and he fell, slid on his side into a mogul and broke 6 ribs, separated his shoulder and punctured a lung. Click HERE to see John's trip down on the "meat wagon".
He was medivaced to Burlington so after skiing we drove up there to stay near John in the hospital.
John was released in the morning in fragile shape and the next day we skied at Okemo which was in fabulous shape but very cold.
John, Tom, and Dave brave the ice and
cold at the top of Jay Peak
Rob, Tom and John on a cold lift ride
John's X-ray showing 6 broken ribs - ouch!
March, 2009 - Sun, snow, and a great time was had by a full house at the Eagle's Nest over the first weekend in March. Long-time member Mike White made it up with Liam, as well as a host of regulars and guests. Many thanks to Liz D. for sending in the great pics! With only a short time left of winter, now is a great time for spring skiing!!!
A bright sunny day greeted the group at the top of Okemo

March, 2009 - Rand was a part of the Bridgewater, NJ Fire District #3 team, one of 45 participating fire departments, that competed in the NJ Firefighter's Annual Ski Race. It is a benefit event where the proceeds go to the St. Barnabas Hospital Burn Center, one of the top burn units in the USA. Each five-person team wears helmets and turncoats and must hold a firehouse while racing down hill down a giant slalom course.
About 200 skiers and hospital employees took part in the event.
Rand's team finished in the top 1/3, and would have finished in 5th place had they not lost a man (incurring a 5 sec. penalty) just before the finish.
Feb. 2009 - Tom & Rand ski Utah! Park City was our destination - a great ski town that hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics. Conditions were good and we skied Deer Valley, Park City Resort, and Alta (the mecca of great powder and spectacular views). Rand- left at Deer Valley. Tom- above-enjoying the "beach scene" at Deer Valley.
